CURRICULUM
PHASE
I
(3 Hours)
The
following will be included in the participant's
Phase
I development:
1. EDUCATION : Phase I begins with
a thorough discussion about the criminal trends in the
surrounding region. The participant will also learn
about legal considerations involved with using force
to defend herself against aggressors, as well as techniques
aggressors commonly use against their victims. When
available, this discussion will be led by a local Police
Officer.
2.
PREVENTION: During
this portion of the course, the lead instructor provides
suggestions and techniques for women to reduce the risks
of an assault. Topics include: Security at home, security
while walking or jogging and includes coverage of the
“Date rape drug” to name a few. The participant will
receive a handout which contains over 50 prevention
tips.
3.
DEFENSIVE TACTICS (Defend & Escape): Phase
I concludes with the teaching, practicing and evaluation
of simple yet highly effective defensive tactics designed
specifically for women. The participant will learn how
to effectively use her hands, elbows, knees and feet
to defend herself against an aggressor.
The
evaluation portion of this phase is designed to let
the participant realize the effectiveness of her new
skills. The participant will truly see and feel the
effectiveness of her skills by applying them “FULL CONTACT”
against a simulated aggressor. No other training is
as close to experiencing an actual assault as this!!
